Childhood Jobs

Life in Forest was hard work, and everyone in the family had to do their share, even the youngest.  Before school, after school, and in the holidays, there was always plenty to keep the children busy. Fetching water from the stream or the well, chopping wood for the fire, picking up stones from the hayfield, searching for ponies in the woods, or helping to milk the cows. It was non-stop. All the same, people still look back fondly on those times, in spite of the hard work
