Point to Point

The New Forest is one of the few places where there are still proper ‘point to points’ in which the winner is the first person to get from start to finish taking any route they like across country. To make things more difficult the finish points move round the Forest every year, and the start point is kept a secret until moments before the races begin. The riders are told to meet-up at a particular place, then they are led through the Forest to the starting point. Sometimes the riders aren’t sure where to head, and they can all set-off in different directions.
